Look who I’m signing next to!
THRILLERFEST 2023
New York City, New York
A neighbor recently asked me exactly what I did at these conferences I go to. I meet readers, I sign books, I attend panels and I’m on panels. ThrillerFest is always in New York at Times Square. ThrillerFest XVIII was from May 30 until June 3.
My panel, BLUE BLOODS, PRIVATE EYES OR INTERNET SLEUTHS? Cozying Up to the Mystery, was moderated by the very funny Gary Grossman. (The ThrillerFest parlance for that is panel master.) Alexia Gordon, Con Lehane, Deborah Goodrich Royce and Stacy Woodson were my fellow panelists. We talked about how and why we write mysteries. I talked about the difference in a mystery (a whodunnit) and a thriller (stopping something really bad from happening) since I now write thrillers.
It’s a great time to see authors you only see once or twice a year, or to meet up with your agent or editor. I arrived (via Amtrak) on Thursday and went out to dinner with one of my museum security sources, his wife and two author friends – Nina Wachman and Lisa Malice.
On Sunday, before I caught my train, Stacy and I had breakfast at Ellen’s Stardust Diner. If you haven’t been there to hear their amazing singing waiters, you should!

So glad you had a great time. Almost makes me want to write thrillers!
I’ve never gotten to Thrillerfest, much to my regret. Now that it’s no longer in July, I think I will. You make it sound like one not to miss!
Looks fabulous!
