I Need A Laugh
- May 13, 2021

With a manuscript due at the end of the month and lots still to do, including the surgical extraction of about eight thousand words, I need a laugh. And no one makes me laugh like the wonderful Scottish cartoonist and illustrator Tom Gauld with his self-professed fondness for “deadpan comedy, flat dialogue, things happening offstage and impressive characters.” How he knows exactly what I’m thinking is a mystery, but this is one of my favorites, and I share it with his permission.
